Welcome to the Rag

Finally, a magazine for the other 0.0002% of us.

We here at The Rag created The Rag because that's what creators of The Rag do; create The Rag. We are bound by fate and heritage to create an on-line 'zine the way our fathers did and their fathers before them. In fact, we still handcraft each page from scratch using the traditional methods that have been passed down to us. We know it's not the fastest, most modern way to publish on-line, but it's the only way we know.

We had a fella', about your age, come by our workshop not too long ago. He said he could sell us some machines that would cut our production time by more than "one half." I must admit, that sounded mighty tempting. We mulled it over a good, long while. We almost took him up on it, until one of our younger workers, a girl with a sparkle in her eyes big enough to light up a dining room with seating for six, spoke up, "If we use these machines, our site's just gonna end up like all them other on-line magazines that people turn to for articles they can email to friends. I don't ever want to hurt Daddy like that. Bless his soul."

That was all the convincing we needed. Everyone knew she was right. We celebrated our conviction with a short fiddle tune, then went back to our chisels and work boards. See, each letter of each word of each The Rag is carved by real hands of real people so each one is unique. It's what makes us the best. We hope you think so too. Thank you and keep reading.

This issue is dedicated to the memory of Kenny Evers who perished in a lathe while turning this capital letter I.

Tales From the Floor

Ever wonder what a floor would say if it could talk? Well, ours does (and it's a "she," not an "it." Sorry.)
